1. What kind of services do the Hang Seng e-Banking offer?
Currency, you can enjoy the following services:
- Account enquiry
- Transfer (between your accounts within Hang Seng Bank (China), to pre-registered third party accounts within Hang Seng Bank (China) and to pre-registered accounts maintained with other banks in Mainland China))
- Remittance to pre-registered overseas bank accounts
- Remit remaining balance from RMB TT Account back to your pre-registered HK Hang Seng RMB Account (Only available to Hong Kong or Macao residents who have valid HK Hang Seng RMB Account)
- Time Deposit
- Electronic monthly statement / electronic transaction notification
- Exchange rate and interest rate enquiry
- Customer services

2. Does Hang Seng e-Banking offer 24-hour services?
Yes. Hang Seng e-Banking service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, certain banking transaction cut-off times apply and some transaction instructions received after standard working hours will be handled on the next working day. For further details, please refer to the relevant terms contained in the account transfer and time deposit documents.
3. What requirement do I have to fulfill to register the Hang Seng Personal e-Banking services?
Simply open a personal account in any of our branch/sub-branch and you can enjoy this service. However, joint account with signature instruction of ‘joint signature’ is not included in this service at the moment.
4. Are there any charges for using Hang Seng Personal e-Banking?
No. This service is free of charge. However, there will be charges on individual transaction such as remittance to overseas bank, inter-city transfer or intra-province remittance, and apply for cheque book.
5. What should I do if I forgot the electronic banking password?
You may call the Customer Service Hotline, contact our Customer Service Representatives or visit any of our branch to re-apply the electronic banking password.
6. What will happen if I have input incorrect information during the log-on process?
If you input wrong information, e.g. an incorrect EBN or PIN, the system will prompt you to re-input the information. However, if you input an incorrect PIN three times in a row, you will be unable to access the system and will have to call our Customer Service Hotline or contact our Customer Service Representatives.
7. How long can I enquire my transaction history?
You may enquire about your transaction history for the past two bank statement cycles.
8. Can remittance transfer to different currency account?
Currently, e-banking is only applicable to same currency remittance instruction. If you would like to transfer the remittance to a different currency account, please visit any of our branches in person.
All remittance services are bounded by regulations of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. (SAFE)
9. Can I transfer different currencies or transfer to different account type?
Currently, e-banking is only applicable to same currency type and same account type transfer. If you would like to conduct different currency type or different account type transfer, please visit any of our branches in person.
10. What is the transfer limit?
The maximum daily accumulated 3rd party transfer limit is RMB 1 million (or equivalent foreign currency) for personal e-Banking. This limit is only applicable to:
- Transfers to 3rd party within the Bank
- CNY transfers to other local banks
- Overseas remittance
- Transfer to your RMB account opened in Hang Seng (HK)
Transfer between your accounts within Hang Seng (China) – No limit
As of 31st Dec 2015, all CNY remittances to other local banks and overseas banks will be free of charge. Fees (if any) charged by agent or other intermediary are excluded.
11. What kind of time deposit services do Hang Seng Personal e-Banking offer?
We offer up to 1 year Time Deposit Services.
12. What kind of time deposit services can I enjoy via Hang Seng Personal e-Banking services?
- Set up new deposit
- Set up or amend maturity instructions
- Enquire time deposit rate.

Prestige Banking Account

1. Are there any charges in opening a Prestige Banking Account?
This account is free of charge. Customers will need to fulfill the account opening requirement and keep a minimum account balance of RMB300,000 or above with the bank to open an account.
2. Will there be any account management fee if the account balance is below RMB300,000 or equivalent after opening the account?

From 1 JUL 2014, if your account balance falls below minimum total balance requirement (CNY300,000 or its equivalent), a monthly fee of CNY100 will be levied.

3. Are there any charges in using the prestigious service at the Prestige Banking Centers?
No. This is an exclusive service for all Prestige Banking customers.
4. If the customer holds banking accounts at several branches/sub-branches of Hang Seng Bank (China) and a Hong Kong branch, is it possible to have a consolidated account balance?
No.The total balance will only reflect the total balance held at each individual branch/ sub-branch.
5. Will all the accounts of the same branch be calculated and listed on the consolidated Monthly Statement?
All the accounts opened the same identification number will be calculated and listed on the Consolidated Monthly Statement.
6. Can I upgrade to Prestige Banking Account if I have maintained an account with your Bank?
Yes. Our Bank can consolidate all the existing bank accounts for the customer and upgrade to Prestige Banking Account to avoid any troubles in re-opening the accounts. Please  also upgrade your debit card to Prestige Debit Card to enjoy special  privileges .
7. Will all the multiple foreign currency accounts be automatically set up once the Prestige Banking Account is opened?
Prestige Banking Account is an integrated account.  Once the customer deposit the money, our Bank will act according to customer instructions of the deposit and currency types and set up the relevant accounts or time deposits.  No additional account opening procedures are required on the new set up account and deposit.
8. What kind of account services can the customer enjoy if they visit the Hong Kong Prestige Banking Centres?
In principle, our Bank welcomes all Prestige Banking customers to visit any of our Prestige Banking Centres in Hong Kong.  Customers can enquire the banking services in Hong Kong from the Customer Relationship Manager, or simply enjoy a coffee break and read magazine at the lounges.
9. Can customers enjoy the exclusive counter services in the Hong Kong Prestige Banking Centres?
Customers may not handle his/her accounts within Hang Seng Bank (China) via the Hong Kong branch counter. However, customers may enjoy the priority counter services in note exchange or any other Hong Kong branches banking services upon presentation of the Prestige Banking Account card. 
10. What are the details of the other banking privileges?
Banking Privileges may be updated in accordance with the market conditions of relevant product/service to ensure the best interest of customers. Customers can enquire the latest promotion offers from customer relationship managers or any branch employee.
11. What kind of account services can our customers enjoy by contacting their relationship managers?
Customers can check the account balance, transactions, funds transfer-in details, time deposit maturity instructions, foreign currency exchange rates, latest banking services information… Apart from that, customers can also complete same account fund transfer, new deposits set up and maturity instructions amendment.

Account Services

1. What are Notes Account and Exchange Account?
Exchange Account is used for remittance or demand draft or cheques from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau or outside of Mainland China.
Notes Account is used for foreign currency notes deposit.
2. Does one has to be aged 18 or above to be eligible to open a foreign currency account?
Mainland Chinese residents must aged 16 or above with valid ID to be eligible to open a foreign currency account.
Foreign passport holder or HKSAR, Macau or Taiwan residents must aged 18 or above and possess an effective personal identity card to be eligible to open a foreign currency account.
3. Can foreign currency account issue cheques?
Currently, we do not offer cheque services for Personal Foreign Currency Account.
4. How can I deposit my money into my Foreign Currency Account in your Bank?
You may deposit your money into your Foreign Currency Account via Foreign Currency cash deposit, foreign currency cheques, foreign currency remittances, fund transfer and telegraphic transfer.
5. Does your Bank offer personal loans services?
We offer personal loan service.
6. Does your Bank offer remittance services?
We offer inter-city transfer and intra-province remittance services.
7. Does your Bank offer Foreign Currency Exchange services?
Yes, provided that all foreign currency exchanges shall be subject to the regulations of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
8. Do I have to visit the branches/sub-branches of Hang Seng Bank (China) in person to open a Renminbi Account?
Besides visiting the relevant branches/sub-branches of Hang Seng Bank (China) in person to open an account, you may hand in the relevant documents to any of the Hong Kong branches. For further details, please call the Customer Service Hotline.
9. When opening and operating my RMB saving accounts, can I use my personal chop instead of signature?
When issuing personal cheques, the customer can use signature, chop or both, all of which are deemed acceptable.

Account Opening Requirement

1. What does a Personal Identification include?
Chinese resident – Identification card issued on the Mainland.
Chinese passport holder (non resident) – Chinese passport or permanent foreign residency documentation (e.g. Green card)
Hong Kong SAR resident – Entry Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents to Mainland or Home Entry Permit with Hong Kong identification card.
Macau SAR resident - Entry Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents to Mainland with Macau identification card.
Taiwan resident - Entry Permit for Taiwan Compatriot to Mainland or other valid traveling document.
Other resident – passport
2. What does an address proof include?

Existing customers (including branches/sub-branches of Hang Seng Bank (China) and Hong Kong Hang Seng Bank customers)

If the address provided by the customers/ permanent address is identical to the existing account record, then no additional address proof is required. (except return mails with special messages.) 

Prospective customers

If the address provided by the customer is identical to the residential address, customer must provide any one of the bank’s approved address proof.
If the address provided by the customer is different from the residential address, customer must provide a bank’s approved address proof and a permanent address proof .
