Since 1997, we have given over HK$180 million in charitable donations and community sponsorships, including HK$21 million in 2006. We provide financial and volunteer support to a wide range of beneficiaries, including The Community Chest of Hong Kong and various youth, elderly persons and environmental protection programmes. Our community sponsorship activities focus primarily on education, community service and support of sports and the arts. |

Since 1995, the Bank has allocated over HK$50 million to local, mainland China and overseas scholarship schemes, benefiting more than 960 students. |

Since 1991, we have provided over HK$25 million to support table tennis training in Hong Kong. This includes our sponsorship of the Hang Seng Table Tennis Academy, which we co-founded in 2001. In 2006, the Academy organised over 700 activities, benefiting more than 24,000 participants. |

In 2006, our Staff Volunteer Team gave over 9,000 hours of their time to participate in a wide spectrum of voluntary projects. Activities organised included tree-planting in Ma On Shan Country Park, mooncake making and hairdressing services for the elderly, and a Christmas party for chronically ill children. |

God of Wealth |
 |
Hang Seng has been handing out God of Wealth posters as Chinese New Year greetings to customers since 1973. The poster won an award of excellence in a design competition organised by the US magazine Communication Arts in 1977. The God of Wealth has been online since 2001 when Hang Seng made God of Wealth e-Cards available. |
