Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited (Hang Seng Indexes), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hang Seng Bank, was established in 1984 and is Hong Kong's leading index compiler covering Hong Kong and mainland China markets. The company’s flagship - the Hang Seng Index – was created in 1969 now widely recognised by the global market as the barometer of the Hong Kong stock market.

As an industry pioneer, Hang Seng Index has been launching a series of index schemes to help investors grasp investment opportunities and provide benchmarks for all aspects of market performance.

With decades of knowledge and experience in indexing, the Hang Seng Family of Indexes currently comprises over 400 real-time and daily indexes, covering a wide spectrum of assets categories and investment portfolios.

The indexes compiled by Hang Seng Index are widely used by global investors to launch a variety of index-linked products and derivatives, including index futures and options, structured investment products, index funds and exchange-traded funds. As of June 30, 2018, there were 70 exchange-traded products linked to the Hang Seng Family of Indexes and listed on 16 different exchanges. As of the end of June 2018, the total value of assets managed by exchange-traded products linked to the Hang Seng Family of Indexes exceeded $28 billion.
